THE MID CITY NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL

The Mid City Neighborhood Council (MINC) promotes public participation in government and works to make government more responsive to local needs. We serve residents roughly between Venice Blvd and the 10 Freeway, bounded by Fairfax Blvd and Crenshaw Blvd.

LA’s 99 Neighborhood Councils together form the grassroots level of the Los Angeles City government. The system was created to connect LA’s diverse communities to City Hall, and was established in 1999. While Neighborhood Council board members are volunteers, they are public officials elected to office by the members of their community. The Neighborhood Council system tailors LA’s municipal government to the City’s communities, ensuring that recognition and accommodation of these communities’ diversity is built into City governance.

Mid City is a very diverse area and our 22 board members work on a variety of projects to improve racial justice in LA, public art in our neighborhood, access and quality of parks in our region, and more. This contest is part of our larger beautification project along Washington Blvd. Join us!

As a Neighborhood Council, we advocate on issues like homelessness, land use, emergency preparedness, public safety, sustainability, local parks access, transportation, and racial justice. We also provide local expertise and a local voice on the delivery of City services to our communities. We concentrate on outreach efforts to ensure residents are aware of resources and happenings in the area. Learn more here.
